Adolescent and Adult Therapist
Nadia Hernandez, LCMHC, NCC
Nadia Hernandez is a compassionate Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) with seven years of experience in the mental health field in Asheville, NC. Nadia holds a Master of Clinical Mental Health degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Her therapeutic approach is marked by warmth, laughter, and a sincere dedication to fostering joy in her sessions.
Central to Nadia's practice is expressive arts therapy, a transformative method that harnesses creativity as a conduit to healing. Recognizing that traditional talk therapy may not resonate with everyone, Nadia encourages clients to explore various art forms to delve into deeper layers of their narratives. Through painting, drawing, mindfulness, and other creative modalities, clients can move past the constraints of language and access unconscious insights and emotions.
Nadia discovered the power of expressive art therapy while working with Autistic adolescents in the intensive in-home settings, where she observed the limitations of talk therapy. She began integrating movement, play, and art to meet clients where they were at.
As a clinician, Nadia has worked with diverse populations and age groups, ranging from children and adolescents in intensive in-home services to young adults in group homes navigating the transition into adulthood. Over the past three years, she has supported adolescents and their families in addressing anxiety, depression, gender identity, ADHD, social anxiety, Autism, adoption issues, and trauma. Nadia's approach is non-judgmental, meeting clients where they are and walking alongside them as they navigate their challenges. Nadia also has a passion for supporting marginalized populations such as first-generation Americans, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ community.
Nadia brings a unique blend of empathy and expertise to her practice. She prioritizes creating a safe and supportive space for clients to express themselves authentically, free from judgment or expectation. Nadia believes in the power of unconditional positive regard and self-forgiveness to heal and lead to a life of abundance.
Whether you're facing the challenges of adolescence, seeking direction in your career, supporting a neuro-diverse child, or simply exploring avenues of self-expression and growth, Nadia is here to accompany you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
In her spare time, Nadia enjoys hiking, playing with her dachshund Houston, biking, learning a new board game, planning adventures, and camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
